When you grow vegetable plants indoors they do NOT develop their normal protection to the sun. Yep, the sun they need to grow will also damage them, unless you introduce them slowly to the sun and outdoors.
The process of 'hardening off' or sun acclimation is accomplished by giving your plants a few hours of morning sun for several days, followed by increasing days of sun.
This process should take about a week. You can start by placing your plants in a place where they would get morning sun and as the sun moves, shade would cover them. Eventually you can move them to your southern exposure and they will be ready for the full sun.
